Pet First Aid & CPCR/ProPetHero by ProTrainings

This course covers so much material in its' eleven modules. It begins with describing basic pet safety and performing a head-to-tail exam. Teaches how to properly bandage a cut/wound, treat bug bites & bee stings to what to do in a situation where a dog/cat is in hypo- or hyperthermia. It covers includes how to correctly stabilize the animal's body to transport to prevent further injury and how to reverse possible poisoning on the way to the emergency vet. Lastly, it includes the procedures for performing rescue breathing and CPCR. The course also comes with a printable sheet on what items are essential to make up an excellent pet first aid kit.

This course from Pet Sitters International teaches the pet sitter to be ready for a natural disaster whether they are in the pet sitters care at the time of the disaster and also how to educate clients on the importance of an emergency evacuation plan. Taught by pet safety crusader Denise Fleck, the curriculum is centered around the three important categories comprising of ready, react and recover. From something as simple as a power outage or winter storm to a more dangerous threat such as a fire, tornado, earthquake or even a civil uprising, Denise walks the pet sitter through how to be ready, react and recover from each disaster.

ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center's Veterinary Assistant/Team Leader Devon Davis introduces you with important information about clients' pets to have on file such as age, weight, health complications and vaccine status in case of a household product poisoning. From toilet bowl and drain cleaners to bleach disinfectants and sanitizers, Devon walks you through the severity of toxicity of each. Human medications, makeup, certain highly toxic plants & marijuana are other common household products discussed as well as symptoms to watch for if a pet has gotten into one. Some can have a solution with a simple dilution while others require an immediate vet visit depending on type and amount consumed.

Dog Training Basics Every Pet Sitter Should Know

A wonderful course by Lindsey Paige, CPDT-KA and professional pet sitter/dog walker herself. As a pet sitter, there are situations in which we can come up with a solution and then there are others that are beyond our control. Lindsey teaches how to train and implement the "Touch Cue" with a client's dog, important techniques when greeting dogs to ensure the relationship starts off on the right "paw," understand the do's and don'ts of crate management and lastly, when and how to educate a client when it is time to call upon another professional if you are not comfortable with a dog's behavior.
