Frequently Asked Questions

Why use a Professional Pet Sitter?

Your pets will be much less stressed being able to remain in a familiar environment of their home. You can ensure peace of mind when an insured, bonded and pet first aid/CPR certified professional pet sitter is in your home. A professional can give your pets the attention and care they need and deserve while avoiding interruptions of daily routines unlike boarding facilities. They will experience less trauma and minimize the risk of any illnesses they can contract while in a doggie day care. Professional pet care providers do this as their only career and strive to continue their education in the field and hold many certifications that gives them the very title as a professional. They are also experienced and know what to do in the event of an emergency or natural disaster. Professionals are also more reliable and commit to long term relationships with their clients. In addition to taking care of your pets, a professional pet sitter will also take care of your home and property while you are away for enhanced security.  Your pets will give you a smile and tail wag of approval for hiring a pet care professional!

What Does It Exactly Mean To Be A Member of Pet Sitter's International?

Is Kaytlynn's K-9 and Cat Care insured and/or bonded?

Yes. I am insured and bonded through Pet Sitters Associates. They specialize in insurance strictly for pet sitters and dog walkers. We carry a general liability policy that covers limited damage to property and care of pets while in my care. Proof of insurance provided upon request.

Do you offer dog boarding in your home?

No, we do not. Our services are for clients who want/need pet care in their own homes. We provide exceptional and trustworthy care even if/when the client may be working from home

How many dogs do you walk at once?

We walk 2 well-behaved/trained dogs of the same household together. We do not do group walks with dogs from all different households. A first and possibly the second walk is required with the owner present for safety/comfortability purposes. For nature trail walks, dogs MUST display leash manners and no reactivity.

One of my pets takes medication. Can you administer their medication to them?

Absolutely, as long as the pet is cooperative and not aggressive for medication administration. We do not put any pet under force in any circumstance to administer medication. We have experience in giving pills, liquid medications and insulin injections. All at no extra charge to the client.

My pet needs to go to the vet. Will you take them?

It is recommended that all annual/yearly exams be made with the veterinarian with the client/owner in attendance. However, if there is an emergency during my stay at a client's home, and vetting is needed, I will absolutely be attentive to that. It is recommended that the client has a credit card on file with their veterinarian and has given them notice that I will be in the care of your pet for these reasons. This is also outlined in my service agreement.

What is a "Meet & Greet" and why is it required for services?

A "Meet & Greet" is a pre-service visit to the clients home before I care for their pets. It is essential for client, pet sitter and pets to establish a relationship built upon trust and comfortability before the client is away and to ensure that it is the right fit! This is also an opportunity for the pet sitter and client to exchange any important questions. At this visit, the service agreement and forms are discussed and a welcome packet with additional information and helpful handouts is given to the client. Additional visits can and may be scheduled at the request of the client at no additional cost.

What forms of payment do you accept and when is payment due?

I accept cash, check, credit/debit card & Venmo. An invoice will be sent outlining services and costs. Upon payment, a receipt will be sent to client if requested. Payment is required BEFORE ANY service begins unless otherwise agreed upon. See policies for more.

Do you work holidays?

Yes, I am available for holidays. Limited spots are available so be sure to book early. Holiday surcharge may apply, see policies for more.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please see full cancellation policy below under policies

How much advanced notice is required when booking services?

Meet & Greets must be at least 1 month  prior to first day of service.
I accept booking requests as far as a year in advance but I require at least 3 months notice for long-term visit services you may wish to book and at least 2 weeks notice for any other services. Requests made within 7 days of requested start date is subject to a $10 service fee for schedule change accommodations. Dates requested are not guaranteed until they are fully confirmed so there is an opportunity to accommodate other clients. Client is responsible for reaching out and fully confirming dates as soon as possible. Availability is not always guaranteed as well.

How do you handle inclement weather during dog walks/drop-in visits?

Dog walk/drop-in visits will not be cancelled due to inclement weather such as rain or light snow. However, if rain is too heavy, the visit may be moved to indoors after a potty break. In the event of heavy snow, all visits/walks that can be cancelled will. If conditions are severely deteriorating and we cannot make it, your emergency contact neighbor will be contacted to assume care until conditions are safe for us to resume services.  Dogs will also not be walked in above 90 degree temperatures or below 15 degree temperatures.
